Not at all. Our classes welcome complete beginners as enthusiastically as experienced cooks. Jérôme and Julia adapt their teaching to your level — clear, patient, and always fun. The only requirement is curiosity and a good appetite.
Will I actually cook or just watch?
You cook. Everyone participates, hands in the dough, knife in hand. With a maximum of 8 people, there is no sitting back and watching — you are active from the market to the stove to the table.
What languages is the class taught in?
Jérôme and Julia speak English, French and German fluently. Classes can be held in any of the three languages — or in a mix for multilingual groups. Just let us know your preference when booking.
🔒 Private Classes
Do you offer private cooking classes in Da Nang?
Yes! A private cooking class means the kitchen, the market tour and the hosts are entirely dedicated to your group — no other participants. It's the same $35/person price with no surcharge.
Private classes are perfect for couples, families, or groups of friends who want a more personal and exclusive experience. Read our full guide to private cooking classes in Da Nang →
Can I customize the menu for a private class?
Yes — menu customization is one of the great advantages of a private booking. We can adapt every dish to your dietary needs, allergies or personal preferences. Just mention it when you book and we'll design the class menu around you.
Is a private class suitable for a honeymoon or romantic occasion?
Absolutely — a private cooking class for two is one of the most romantic experiences in Da Nang. Many couples book it as a honeymoon activity or anniversary treat. You cook side by side, sit down to a beautiful Vietnamese meal, and leave with recipes to recreate the magic at home.
Can I book a private class for a team or corporate group?
Yes. A private cooking class is a fantastic team-building activity — collaborative, creative and memorable. For corporate groups of more than 8, please contact us and we'll discuss the best options.
🌱 Dietary Needs & Allergies
Do you cater for vegetarians and vegans?
Yes. We offer a fully vegetarian or vegan menu on request. Vietnamese cuisine is naturally rich in vegetables, herbs, tofu and plant-based ingredients, making it one of the most vegan-friendly cuisines in Asia.
Please mention your diet when booking so we can plan the market shopping and menu accordingly.
Can you accommodate food allergies?
Yes. Please inform us of any allergies (shellfish, nuts, gluten, etc.) when you book. We will adapt the ingredients and preparation to keep your class safe and enjoyable. We take allergies seriously — your health and comfort come first.
Can I request a gluten-free class?
We can adapt many dishes to be gluten-free. Vietnamese cuisine uses a lot of rice flour and fresh ingredients rather than wheat, so a gluten-free experience is very much possible. Tell us when you book and we'll confirm the menu.

👨👩👧 Families & Children
Can children participate in the cooking class?
Absolutely — children are warmly welcome at Family Kitchen Da Nang. Kids love rolling spring rolls, flipping bánh xèo and exploring the local market. It becomes an unforgettable family memory.
We adapt the tasks to make them safe and age-appropriate. A private booking is ideal for families with children — you get the full experience at your own pace.
Is there a minimum age for children?
There is no strict minimum age. Young children (under 6) are welcome but will need a parent or guardian with them at all times in the kitchen. From around age 6–7, kids can actively participate in most tasks. Let us know the ages of your children when booking so we can plan accordingly.
Do you charge for young children who don't eat?
Very young children who are not eating are not charged. For children who participate in the cooking and share the meal, the standard $35/person applies. Please mention the ages of your children when booking and we'll sort it out together.
